Where we stand?
Our strengths
- single design team - consistency and no marketplace
- in-the-cloud
- incredibly fast app
- fine designs and still the largest sets
- great, clean UI that doesn’t drive nuts
- it’s an amazing solution for design agencies
- very motivated team and great team spirit
- lots of dev support is available for growth tasks
Our weaknesses
- features aren’t user-friendly. we launch without testing or understand demand (eg: global search and collections are arguably not used or impossible to use)
- we give too much for free and have associated ourselves as a freebie site instead of a premium site.
- we have poor nurture flows (activation and conversion).
- we attract cheap traffic looking for free stuff. all our marketing tactics involve free stuff and none of them say that we are a premium content library because these are best assets available on the internet. good stuff ain’t cheap.
- we don’t make enough per employee or per user. we need better systems and processes so that every employee can bring 2X the revenue at least to the company. [stats]
- our distribution isn’t the best. we exist in silos. we need to distribute a lot more and again, not just freebies.
- very complicated (unreasonable) licensing that scares people
Our opportunities
- incredible in-house knowledge
- brand awareness is already there
- webalys is also a brand to use and leverage
- largest illustration sets
- buying extra sets shouldn’t be hard
- need a stronger sales arm to pull in the best customers
Our threats
- no upsells
- no churn prevention tactics
- no newsletter subscription
- broken customer journey and data points. example: I still manually work in google sheets to find customer lists to email them. That isn’t scalable.
- broken icons and illustrations (~80%)
- pricing model might need re-adjusting based on user seats.
- we pay too much for marketing tools (Drip + Intercom + Chartmogul all get expensive). We will need to move to something else quickly.
- terrible positioning and messaging that doesn’t relay the right information at the right time nor does it position ourselves as the leaders in icon/illustration design.
